About The Warning

The Warning is a Mexican hard rock power trio from Monterrey, Nuevo León, formed in 2013 by three sisters: Daniela “Dany” Villarreal Vélez (lead vocals, guitar, piano; born January 30, 2000), Paulina “Pau” Villarreal Vélez (drums, vocals, piano; born February 5, 2002), and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal Vélez (bass, backing/occasional lead vocals, piano; born December 13, 2004). The band blends hard rock, alternative rock, and alternative metal with tight musicianship, powerful riffs, driving rhythms, and anthemic choruses. All three sisters received early classical piano training and grew up in a music-loving household. Inspired in part by the video game Rock Band and encouragement from their parents, they formed a self-taught power trio—Daniela on guitar, Paulina on drums, and Alejandra (then around age 7–8) on bass—and began posting cover videos on YouTube.

Their 2014 cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” went viral (eventually surpassing 26 million views). Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett praised Paulina’s playing, famously saying the drummer “kicks maximum ass.” At the time, the sisters were roughly 14, 12, and 9–10 years old. In 2015 they appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where Ellen and Target helped fund a five-week intensive program at Berklee College of Music. That same year they independently released their debut EP Escape the Mind (funded partly via GoFundMe). Their first full-length album, XXI Century Blood (2017), and the follow-up Queen of the Murder Scene (2018) established them as rising forces in Latin American and international rock scenes. They opened for acts including The Killers and Def Leppard and performed at major festivals such as Rock al Parque.

In August 2020 the band signed with Lava Records (an imprint of Republic Records/Universal). Working with producer David Bendeth and others, they released the Mayday EP (2021) and their major-label debut album Error (2022). The single “Money” reached the top 40 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Extensive touring followed: supporting Muse, Guns N’ Roses, Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, Foo Fighters, and others; headlining their own North American and European runs; and making festival appearances worldwide. Their fourth studio album, Keep Me Fed (June 28, 2024), expanded their sound and commercial reach with singles including “S!CK,” “Burnout,” “Automatic Sun,” and “Qué Más Quieres” (the latter nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Song). They have performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, at the MTV VMAs and EMAs, and at the Latin Grammys. In 2025 they released the concert film and live album Live from Auditorio Nacional, CDMX (from sold-out shows in Mexico City) and continued global touring, including support slots and major European festivals.

Current Status (as of August 2026). The Warning’s fifth studio album, Everything’s Falling, was released on August 28, 2026, via Lava/Republic.

From childhood covers filmed at home in Monterrey to sold-out arenas, festival stages, and major-label albums, The Warning have become one of the most prominent and hardworking rock acts to emerge from Mexico in the 21st century—proof that exceptional talent, family collaboration, and relentless dedication can still break through in the modern music industry.
